Instagram TV for Real Estate

The Instagram app on a cell phoneOne of the most popular social media platforms in the industry, Instagram, recently released a new feature — Instagram TV. Also known as IGTV, this feature allows users to upload videos that are up to an hour in length, rather than the previously used small-segment Instagram Stories or one-minute posts. IGTV can be accessed by the new icon at the top right corner of the Instagram app, or through the new IGTV app. IGTV is only seen in vertical orientation and can be viewed based on people you follow or your interests through the “discover” feature. Any Instagram user can be an IGTV creator — you can upload your own IGTV videos in the app or on the web to start your own channel.

Some great ways to use IGTV to benefit your real estate business are:

  1. Home tours – Shooting a detailed video of your listing is a great way to show off its features. While this was also possible in Instagram Stories, you now can video continuously, rather than having to take the video in short segments. Make sure that you introduce yourself at the beginning of the video and provide your contact information for viewers.
  2. Showcasing local businesses – By interviewing local business owners for your IGTV channel, you can create some local buzz around your profile. If you tag the businesses in your video, many local users will see the video through the “discover” feature and hopefully follow it to your profile.
  3. Real estate trends – Start a biweekly or monthly feature of popular home trends. Using your listings, video certain areas of the home that showcase some of its trendiest features. By posting these consistently, you can generate a following of people interested in home trends.
